There are various resources that the Earth provides its inhabitants, but the most important natural resource is water. However, despite the fact that water is an irreplaceable natural resource, humans tend to abuse without knowing the implications. It is necessary to save water not only because it is a very manageable resource (Padmavathy & Malarvizhi, 2006), but also because of the fact that water provides life to every living thing on Earth. Without it, life cannot be sustained: humans can survive weeks without food, but without water, they will only be able to survive for a few days. Apart from this, water also sustains the growth of life in forests, jungles which are the habitats of other species. Unfortunately, as much as the world would like to believe that nature’s resources would last forever, such is not possible. Water is a finite source, and only about 0. 024% of all the water resources in the world is accessible, while the rest of the world’s water supply consists of oceans and inaccessible freshwater in the deep earth (Dauvergne, 2005). Humans, animals, and plant life will not be able to subsist without water; plant life would not be able to grow, and animals which eat plants will not have any food supply. These animals will deplete in numbers, they will devastate the food chain and bigger animals which eat these animals will also lose their food supply. If animals continue to thin in numbers, they would eventually become endangered, and unfortunately, it is possible that they may become instinct. In order to preserve life on Earth, every individual should have the initiative to save water. There is a need to educate people of the implications of losing freshwater on Earth, for the first step to understanding would be education. Ecocritics work to develop and demonstrate the connection between nature and humanity by expressing how places are connected to the people that live in them. Likewise, those places, or nature, affect the people that live within them and vise versa. John Keats’ eco-poetics often convey a Romantic adoration for nature by means of a self-conscious, philosophical imagination’s connection to nature. His enthusiasm for the philosophical as well as the corporeal scopes of nature plays an obvious fundamental role in his theory of consciousness and aesthetics. Keats has specific qualifications for truth and beauty.Truth is all inclusive, combining all experiences with nature in one’s life, whether they are affirmative or undesirable experiences, into one functional vision. However, Keats separates his poetry from nature in dominating way. He does not believe that nature only funds the aesthetics of his poetry, but rather that his poetry forces readers to recognize a deepe r meaning to existence. ‘Ode to a Nightingale’ is an excellent example of Keats’ use of nature in developing the poet’s assumptions of consciousness and philosophy. The initial use of a bird singing, in its poetic aesthetics sense, portrays the beauty and concord within nature.Keats embraces the thought of a painless death only while listening to the nightingale’s song. This is because of the bird’s ability to be free, which wills Keats’ to want a similar freedom, apart from the suffering and pain within human life. He even speaks as though the nightingale is immortal and incapable of the sorrow of death. Within the same stanza, which can be found below, Keats speaks of a magic this nightingale holds. It is as if Keats firmly believes in the nightingale’s ability to transcend the natural world, into a world free of cares and lacking death. Keats focuses on the phenomena of metamorphosis in regards to the conscious self. This pattern of c ycles which can be directly connected to the process of life and human existence can be seen in the fifth stanza of ‘Ode to a Nightingale’ as well as in ‘to Autumn. Along with this rend ition of life and death, Keats creates a feeling of comfort in his ecological representation of death. In ‘To Autumn,’ Keats displays a world in which fruit is ripe and flowers are budding. Colors are alive and bright. However, each season brings the death of the one preceding it. In other words, every season, as with every human existence, has the capacity of life and death.The ecology behind this declaration appears within the recurring and inexhaustible rebirth of nature’s beauty. On the other hand, I do not believe that Keats’ sole intention was to display the beauty of nature. Keats often uses the exploration of nature and its imagery as a socio-political symbol of freedom, sovereignty, and harmony. Although autumn is beautiful and Keats uses this ecology to the political and personal strife found within every human being. I believe this to be true because Keats wrote ‘To Autumn’ in September of 1819, shortly after his brother, Tom, died in December of 1818 of tuberculosis.Also the Peterloo Massacre, which occurred in August of 1819, about a month before Keats wrote ‘To Autumn,’ may have influenced his language and aesthetics within the poem. Keats was obviously pondering the concept of death and his undeniable belief in an existence after death. It is important to consider the context, both political and social, in which ‘To Autumn’ was written. This is because â€Å"ecocritics enlarge the vision(s) of texts and their role and function in our lives while challenging, the readers, to investigate and grapple with our personal understanding of humanity, texts, and nature itself (Bressler). Our understanding of humanity, text, and nature is often greatly influenced by the experiences we face from day to day. Keats is able to use his poetry to address a number of reoccurring ideas: the relationship between art and existence, the limitation of that existence and how those limitations are embrac ed by people, and the inevitability of death and loss of everything that is capable of reproduction and beauty. Although his poetry is beautiful, his ideas are somewhat tragic.

Comparison and Contrast Essay

If you were to compare and contrast going to a community college verses going to a university, they can be very different but also one in the same. Some similarities include activities and, class choices. Differences between these two subjects are class size, living, and cost. Going away to school can be a lot different from going to a community college, but in some ways they can be similar also. The first point in which I will discuss is class size. When going to a community college, the class sizes are much smaller than going to a university. With a small class size, it is easier to get more help understanding the subject because there aren’t so many students. Teachers can give their students more one on one attention this way. A similarity between community college and a university is that some universities do have smaller class sizes. There are some classes at universities that aren’t lectures, making class sizes smaller than the usual 100 or more students. Class size at a university is usually much larger because there are a lot more students, with fewer classes. The second point to make in regards to comparing going to a community college and going to a university is the costs are very different. At a university you are paying for all four years whereas at a community college, you only have to pay for a minimum of two years, which makes for saving a lot more money. At a community college, you don’t have to pay anywhere near what you have to pay at a university. Also, at a community college, you aren’t paying for dorm living, which adds on thousands more of dollars. The only similarity between these two different schools costs is the online classes. You have to pay for taking an online class, but of course with a university it will still cost a lot more. They both offer online classes however. Another similarity between going to a community college verses going to a university is you have to pay if you want to be on a sport team. Both schools require money. Participating in activities at school such as sports, clubs, and concert events can be different when going to a community college and a university. Some ways they can be different is at a community college, some based on the size, don’t have football teams. All universities have football teams and stadiums. Community colleges, since they are smaller don’t have big stadiums or a football team. Going along with not having football teams, this means that community colleges don’t have marching bands either. Also, universities have famous people who give concerts and community colleges don’t do that either. Some similarities between school activities are both schools have some kind of clubs where students can join groups and become friends with the people in their clubs. Both colleges offer clubs. They also both have music programs as in band or orchestra or chorus. Both colleges offer music in the music departments. They may not be as large of a group as a university, but they are still offered. As you can see, if you go to a community college you won’t be able to participate sometimes in football, or marching band. Also, if you attend a community college, you can save a lot of money from not living on campus. The other topic I mentioned was class size and how much smaller the class size is compared to a university. The differences between both colleges that I mentioned were at a university there are larger classes, football stadiums, dorm living, and you have to pay much more money for attending a university for four years. Finally, the last thing I talked about were how going to a community college and a university have some things in common such as both having chorus, band, and orchestra. Also, they both have online classes and similar subjects that a student can take. Both colleges have similar activities such as clubs and after school activities. Since attending a community is much smaller, and a university is much larger, there are going to be many differences between these two colleges. But since they are both colleges, there are some similarities between the two of course as well. Regardless, you can now see exactly what they have in common, and what they don’t more clearly now.

When an inmate charges brutality, they may be referring to a number of things. The Fall of the House of Usher Analysis Essay â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† is a short story written by Edger Allan Poe in 1839. Almost everything about the story is very gloomy, dark and depressing. For example, the house is described by the narrator as â€Å"the melancholy House of Usher† and the description of Roderick Usher himself makes you think of a corpse. This theme of dreariness and sorrow pervades the story and is done to a very chilling effect, which really draws in the reader. â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† has lots of necessary elements of a traditional Gothic tale: a dreary landscape, a haunted house, mysterious characters, etc. but for all of these elements, the vagueness of the story is a large part of the terror about it. One of the most interesting and endearing elements of this story is its mystery, the fact that Edgar Allan Poe, despite the brilliant description of the setting and physical features of the characters, doesn’t actually give us a lot of information about the characters themselves makes the reader ask a lot of questions: Why is the house in such a state of disrepair? ; If the narrator was a childhood friend of Roderick Usher, why doesn’t he know much about him – like the basic fact that he has a twin sister? Etc. Even the information that Poe does give us begs more questions than it answers, for example, the fact that the Usher family doesn’t have any collateral damage. This feeling of mystery really is a brilliant way of writing a story as it makes the reader want and indeed need to read on in order to answer the questions posed. Due to this, the reader will find it near impossible to put the story down which is definitely a credit to Poe’s talent and style of writing. The characters in â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† are very intriguing as well. All three main characters are interesting in their own right and they all have at least something that makes them seem out of the ordinary. Roderick Usher in particular has certain qualities that are extremely interesting and make you want to know more about him. One of them is his appearance; he looks extremely strange and has a look about him that is not easy to forget. He is described as having â€Å"a cadaverousness of complexion; n eye large, liquid, and luminous beyond comparison†¦Ã¢â‚¬  His appearance is especially strange because he had once actually been an attractive man and â€Å"†¦the character of his face had been at all times remarkable. † However, his looks have slowly deteriorated over time. He had in fact changed so much that the narrator â€Å"doubted to whom [he] spoke. † This fact of course then begs the question: What happened to make him change so much? The most obvious quality that makes you want to find out more about him, however, is his mental state. Throughout the story, Roderick displays obvious symptoms of insanity that the narrator picks up on from Roderick Usher’s behaviour: â€Å"In the manner of my friend I was struck with an incoherence an inconsistency; and I soon found this to arise from a series of feeble and futile struggles to overcome a habitual trepidancy an excessive nervous agitation. † The narrator is also an extremely interesting character. At first he seems to simply be a normal, educated man who has a good heart enough to come to the aid of his boyhood friend. However, as soon as he comes into the grounds of the house he becomes more superstitious: â€Å"There can be no doubt that the consciousness of the rapid increase of my superstition†¦Ã¢â‚¬  confused: â€Å"Shaking off from my spirit what must have been a dream, I scanned more narrowly the real aspect of the building†¦Ã¢â‚¬  and even starts to develop a certain insanity and hysteria of his own: â€Å"Rationally Ushers condition terrified, it infected me I felt creeping upon me, by slow yet uncertain degrees, the wild influence of his own fantastic yet impressive superstitions. This shows that, although he is an educated and analytical man, he is susceptible to other influences. He tries to suppress his fears and help his friend throughout the story and is successful until, at the very end, his fear finally overcomes him as Lady Madeline’s reappearance after her death is just too much for him and ends up driving him out the house. Edgar Allan Poe creates a sensation of claustrophobia in this story. The narrator is mysteriously trapped by Roderick’s lure and his need to help his friend. He cannot escape until the house of Usher collapses completely. The house, because of its deteriorated state and seemingly seclusion from everything else, seems to take on a monstrous character of its own—the Gothic mastermind that controls the fate of its inhabitants. Edgar Allan Poe creates confusion between the living things and inanimate objects by doubling the physical house of Usher with the genetic family line of the Usher family, which he refers to as the house of Usher. It is even said in the story that the people of the nearby village refer to both the actual house and the Usher family as â€Å"the house of Usher† which reinforces the idea that they are the same thing. Poe employs the word â€Å"house† metaphorically, but he also describes a real house. The use of description in â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† is incredible. The way Edgar Allan Poe uses the emotions of the narrator to enhance the descriptions of the house in particular really helps the reader to paint a picture of the setting in their mind. Personification of the house is used to aid in description as well, which definitely gives it a whole new dynamic and also ends up helping with the actual story being told. The house is described as having â€Å"eye-like windows† which would suggest that the house is like a face staring out at anyone who comes close to it. This really gives the story a new feeling and eeriness about it. Symmetry is a main feature throughout â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† and is also a very interesting and important theme. The first aspect of symmetry that we know of is when the narrator sees a reflection of the house of Usher in the tarn in front of it. The second is when the narrator notices a fissure running down the middle of the house itself. The two halves of the house and the house and its reflection seem to represent the two Usher twins, Roderick and Madeline. This idea is reinforced when the two siblings die together as, when they do, the two halves of the house crumble and so the reflection disappears as well. The inhabitants of the village calling the two entities by the same name â€Å"The House of Usher† represent this connection between the family Usher and the actual house of Usher. The Fall of the House of Usher† is a very interesting story that appeals to the modern day person as it undoubtedly did to the people who read it when it was first published. It is a timeless Gothic story that is extremely interesting and intriguing all the way through. Energy for Performance in Touch Football Essay This term in year 11 senior physical education we have been learning the use of the three energy systems and how they are used in the game of touch football and how they function together. To understand the energy systems, our class went through a number of fitness tests. The Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) stores in the muscle and lasts for approximately 2 seconds and the resynthesis of ATP from Creatine Phosphate (CP) will continue until CP stores are used up, which is approximately 4-6 seconds. This gives us around 5-10 seconds of ATP. The use of ATP in touch football is high intensity, it would be used in a 50m sprint or a pass in touch. Once the Creatine Phosphate stores have worn out, the body resorts to stored glucose for ATP. The breakdown of glucose or glycogen in anaerobic conditions results in the production of lactic acid. The build up of ions is the restrictive issue causing fatigue in runs of 300m – 800m. The lactic acid system is most affective around 30seconds to 2-3 mins. In touch football the use of the lactic acid system may be used when wrucking the ball, as it is a constant sprint with little or no rest. The aerobic energy system utilizes protein, fats and carbohydrates (glycogen) for resynthesising ATP. The aerobic system is most effective at 5 mins onward. This energy system can be developed with various intensity runs. The types of runs are, Continuous runs – long slow runs at 50-70% of highest heart rate. This places demands on muscular and liver glycogen. The normal response by the system is to enhance muscle and liver glycogen storage capacities. This run would be the warm up run that we take of the oval before getting into the game. Extensive runs – continuous runs at 60-80% of maximum heart rate. This places demands on the system to cope with lactic acid production. Running at this level helps the removal and turnover of lactic acid and the body’s ability to tolerate the larger levels of lactic acid. The example for this run would be wrucking the ball at a high intensity work rate. Intensive runs – continuous runs at 80-90% of maximum heart rate. In the vain of Randolph and Viswanath and their extensive, and arguably the most definitive, review of media use in public health Lessons Learned from Public Health Mass Media Campaigns: Marketing Health in a Crowded Media World (2004) (Randolph Viswanath, 2004), I shall engage in a rigorous and complementary review of applications of IBCM youth sexual health education and sexual health promotional tools. In this literature review I will: Describe the field of youth sexual health and sexual health intervention; defines Internet based computer-mediated technology; describe how IBCM technology has been used to undergo and/or improve public health generally and youth sexual health specifically; identify what evidence we have to support the application of IB CM interventions in youth sexual health promotion; explain what is necessary for an IBCM intervention to successfully alter youth sexual health behaviors and improve their health outcomes; find out to what extent can we learn from the successes and failures of previous IBCM interventions; and lastly, unearth how we apply this knowledge to future youth sexual health interventions. Introduction Youth Sexual Health Youth are considered a high-risk group and priority in sexual health promotion and prevention. Youth here, and commonly throughout the study of sexuality, is defined as fourteen to twenty-four years of age. Sexually transmitted infection (STI) and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) remain a problem among youth in the United States (Rangel, Gavin, Reed, Fowler, Lee, 2006). HIV prevalence is especially high in youth of minority groups, and epidemics of sexually transmitted HIV are gaining hold in these vulnerable populations (Eaton, et al., 2008). STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis are still prevalent in sexual and racial minority populations especially among youth (Eaton, et al., 2008). Socio-demographic youth groups are at further disproportionate risk of poor sexual health when disenfranchised. This is true for both gay bisexual and transgender (GBT), and Heterosexual youth groups (Solorio, Milburn, Weiss, Batterham, 2006; Tyler, 2008; Van Leeuwen, et al., 2006). Youth may not broach concerns regarding sexual health in healthcare encounters because of pressure on health service facilities, patientsà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢ and even physiciansà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢ reservations about raising complex and potentially sensitive topics (Gadomski, Bennett, Young, Wissow, 2003; Merzel, et al., 2004) Intervention Strategies In person and school based interventions are the most commonly used sexual health educational intervention strategies use to promote youth sexual health (Paul-Ebhohimhen, Poobalan, van Teijlingen, 2008). These interventions have limited geographic reach, are usually relegated to parentally consented youth, and most often miss disenfranchised youth. Moreover, sexual health interventions can often be complex in both scope and execution. There are often a number of components to sexual health prevention programs, which often interact with one another to illicit a different response or address a specific concern, simultaneously at varying levels, toward a central goal (Agha Van Rossem, 2004; Paul-Ebhohimhen, et al., 2008). Research of health interventions to promote youth sexual health and increase sexual health knowledge have consistently shown that simply providing information to youth does not significant elicit positive behavior change (Catalano, Gavin, Markham, 2010; Gavin, Catal ano, David-Ferdon, Gloppen, Markham, 2010). Moreover, the components necessary to execute a successful intervention, or educe positive behavior change, have yet to be outline and systematized in a way that would suggest potential for universality (Catalano, et al., 2010). Theory supported interventions are often reported to have higher rates of efficacy(Fishbein Ajzen, 2005; Hagman, Clifford, Noel, 2007), as are interventions that are customized to address the specific concerns and needs of the target population (Fisher, Cornman, Norton, Fisher, 2006). Leveraging theory, particularly those in the social and psychological sciences, and those specific to sexuality and social behavior, has show repeated promise in strengthening the final outcome of a well developed intervention. Also important in youth sexual health promotion seems to be skills to help youth modify and improve their self-perception, often in an effort to increase self-efficacy (Ellis, Rothbart, Posner, 2004). Internet Based Computer-Mediated (IBCM) Interventions The Internet and related Internet accessing technologies (i.e. cellular and computer) are more commonly providing access to sexual health information (Della, Eroglu, Bernhardt, Edgerton, Nall, 2008; Parker Thorson, 2008). Youth are already taking advantage of the Internet as a health information resource (Pew Research Center, 2009; Skinner, Biscope, Poland, Goldberg, 2003). Computers are still the most effective way to access the Internet. Unfortunately most youth groups that are at a disproportionately higher risk for contracting HIV/STIs, such as marginalized minority groups, disenfranchised youth, GBT youth, and the socio-economically disadvantaged youth, also are less likely to have access to advanced Internet technology such as a computer (Everett, 2008; Pew Research Center, 2009). However access is increasing even among marginalized populations (Pew Research Center, 2005, 2009); thus, the potential for the wide scale and rapid delivery of sexual health promoting tools to youth through internet technology increases in tandem. Unfortunately, little is known about the efficacy and effectiveness of Internet based computer-mediated interventions designed to promote sexual health. Most traditional evaluation techniques are only moderately effective at unearthing the effects, shortcomings, and potential of such a unique method of sexual health intervention delivery. Currently unknown, it is imperative we understand what forms of Internet based computer-mediated youth sexual health interventions are most effective in addressing which specific sexual health issues and in what geographic settings. IBCM, interactive interventions are more than just feasible, and have been effective in assisting people with chronic illness monitor and modify their behavior and has also increase adherence to medication and specific health regimens (i.e. diabetes) (Jonasson, Linne, Neovius, Rossner, 2009; Lee, et al., 2009). Among adults, such IBCMs have lead to increased health literacy and knowledge, larger and more effective social support networks, noteworthy health behavior change, and very promising statistically significant clinical outcomes (Lau, Lau, Cheung, Tsui, 2008; Mimiaga, et al., 2008). Youth health promoting potential for IBCM interventions have also been implemented in combating underage drinking and early alcoholism (LaBrie, et al., 2009), youth smoking cessation and prevention (Wang Etter, 2004), and to promote nutrition and physical activity while combating early childhood obesity (Hung, et al., 2008; Maes, et al., 2008; Mauriello, Sherman, Driskell, Prochaska, 2007). There are also many advantages to IBCM interventions when dealing with sensitive or stigmatized topics. IBCM is often preferred over in person interventions because IBCM interventions can have a higher level of privacy, can be easily repeated, and administered at convenient times for the participant (Tomnay, Pitts, Fairley, 2005). IBCM interventions can also be tailored to meet individual needs, offer individualized feedback, and can promote active learning through interactive elements (Bowen, Horvath, Williams, 2007; Noar, Clark, Cole, Lustria, 2006). Though most youth sexual health interventions and programs are not pre-evaluated by control trial before use (Haigh Jones, 2005; McMorris, et al., 2009), qualitative evaluations of youth focused IBCM interventions in schools, neighborhoods, and healthcare settings indicate that users prefer the privacy, convenience, tailored design, and interactivity (McFarlane, Kachur, Klausner, Roland, Cohen, 2005; Rietmeijer McFarlane, 2009). Need for IBCM Reviews New Media technology such as the Internet offers great potential for youth sexual health promotion and HIV/STI prevention. There are no known systematic reviews of Internet based computer-mediated delivery for youth sexual health interventions. Though thorough reviews of youth sexual health interventions are available these reviews focus specifically on interventions that make use of in-person interaction and education by teachers, peers educators or healthcare providers (Paul-Ebhohimhen, et al., 2008; Turnbull, van Wersch, van Schaik, 2008; Underhill, Montgomery, Operario, 2008). It is not known whether an Internet based computer-mediated intervention is simply another delivery system of the same youth sexual health education, or whether the Internet can provide a different locus with intrinsic experiences that operate and affect the end user in a different way than in person youth sexual health education. There may also be something intrinsically positive about in person interactions that protect for human error or lends itself to a more dynamic or adjustable intervention process. There is also the potential that Internet based interventions may cause harm. Thus, a systematic review is imperative to unearth trials of Internet based computer-mediated interventions, and to assess their efficacy and/or effectiveness. Objectives The objectives of this literature review are to: Determine the efficacy and/or effectiveness of Internet based computer-mediated interventions for youth sexual health promotion, while taking into consideration behavioral, cognitive, biological and economic outcomes. Describe how IBCM technology has been used to undergo and/or improve public health generally and youth sexual health specifically. Identify what evidence we have to support the application of IBCM interventions in youth sexual health promotion. Explain what is necessary for an IBCM intervention to successfully alter youth sexual health behaviors and improve their health outcomes. Find out to what extent can we learn from the successes and failures of previous IBCM interventions. Unearth how we apply this knowledge to future youth sexual health interventions.

Life is But a Stage... Â   This fall I performed the role of Stage Manager in the local high school production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. Our director didn't cast the role as the traditional lead, white male that most productions use; we cut the role into two female parts of different race. Without the traditional portrayal to fall back on, we had to create our characters from scratch. The thought crossed my mind a few times that my character didn't really have a name. Certain names remind you of stereotypes, and based on a name you can make some easy, general choices on how to portray that character. Mindy is a ditz, Christine can easily be a nerd, and Irma can make a nice old maid. That name association gives you a point to start from, after which you can explore other things. But where on earth do you start with a name like Stage? Â   I formed an image of a guy wearing dirty overalls, walking barefoot and playing guitar outside his cabin in the woods. He liked to philosophize about the world, and found that a little Bailey's in his coffee made that world slightly clearer. He didn't need people around and didn't completely understand them -- or maybe he did, and just got frustrated because they didn't understand themselves. He usually walked with his hands in his pockets, looking either up at the trees or down at the ground, but never focused at eye level. Somewhere in the process I adopted a feminine perspective on my character, very much a tomboy but also very much a woman. Â   At two points in the show I took on other roles. . . in Act Two I played the minister at the wedding, which was a background character and not very distinct. Then, with fairly short notice I took on the role of Joe the undertaker in Act Three. I learned the blocking and the lines quickly, but my problem was that I had to change into Joe right on-stage, and just after my favorite Stage Manager speech. I decided to use a few simple physical traits to help get into character. First I buttoned my shirt, which in three seconds was the only thing I could think of to give the audience some clue that I was changing identities. I developed a squint, changed the tone of my voice, and I gave Joe a limp by keeping my left knee locked.

Plate tectonics help us to explain the process of folding. According to the theory of plate tectonics, the earth’s crust is broken up into sections called plates. These plates float on the semi-molten mantle. Thermal convection currents in the mantle drag these plates in different directions resulting in tectonic activity. The Caledonian period of folding took place about 400 million years ago when the Eurasian plate and the American plate collided. The in-between ocean floor was subducted under both continents and the seafloor sediments were buckled up to form the sedimentary rocks of the Caledonian Fold Mountains.
